As with most water heating equipment, there are maintenance requirements that must be carried out annually.
The following list is a general example of indirect storage tank maintenance points, and as such may not cover all steps that are required for your specific model.
Some steps will require that you have isolated the storage tank from the water supply and the boiler, drained it accordingly, and have allowed time for it to cool down.
Please refer to the installation manual for your particular model for full details!
1. Test the function of the T&P pressure relief valve.
2. Check the anode rod to ensure that it is still in working condition. Please refer to this service bulletin for details.
3. Depending on certain factor (such as age of the installation, water chemistry, temperature of the stored hot water), over time limescale may naturally accumulate inside the tank. Please do NOT use any tools to remove limescale, as this may damage the glazing on the inside of the tank. Instead, you may use thermal shock to loosen the limescale deposits on some models of tank. For details, please refer to your tank's installation manual.
For full maintenance requirements, and instructions on how to carry out the work, please refer to your product's installation manual. If you need to download a copy of the manual, please look for the model of tank on this downloads page.
